Hey,
where has the airfield gone. The grey cloud of rain blocked the view a bit, but
no worry, having turned onto base, somewhere ahead were the 2 ponds, carb heat
on, throttle back to 1700, nose up, ASI in white mark, heave up on 1 and then 2
stages of flap, do I see some ponds ahead, nose up, let airspeed trickle away to
70kts, aah, there are the ponds, turn onto finals, 'TL final', where is the
runway between that wide range of rain drops covering the windscreen, heave up
another stage of flap, airspeed/runway - what runway, between the raindrops 27
is espyed, carb heat off, aim for that 27, more rain, over 27, power off, stay
afloat for rather long, wheels down to ground, push down for flaps up, power on
and away we go leaving that rain cloud behind. A few more circuits until the
rain clouds had moved away. Then Bob got out and told me to enjoy myself but
keep it to one circuit as there was another raincloud on its way. TL takes off
with very little help, raincloud keeps away and so back on final, slightly steep
approach but the wheels stroked the ground so gently.
Bob signed my book
with reminders not to dig holes in the runway with the prop.
