Andrewsfield Student Fly-Out
29th April 2007

The day of the Andrewsfield student fly out and ... well it's not raining, can't see much though. John gives a brief, and the students start plotting for Fenland and Sywell. We hold faith that the weather will clear.

Plotting. Spotting.

Coffee is brewed. Rubbish is talked. Mr. Skunk makes an appearance. The weather is brightening here, but to the North you'll be lucky to see the back of your hand. Disaster!

Glum. Skunk!

But no! Mike and crew save the day. A last minute change of plan. We are to fly to Hanningfield, then Abberton and back to Andrewsfield. But that's not all, as test of student navigational skills on leaving Abberton they have to radio in their ETA, and just to keep the rest of us on our toes, a spot landing competition.

Wild enthusiasm ensues, something akin to a food fight in a Mel Brooks movie. Well maybe not that enthusiastic, but it does seem that the day has been saved and once the rota has been drawn up, the crews are scrambling to get airborne.

What we gonna do? Where's my beer?

So, loads of pictures of landings from all and sundry. Click this link to see them. It would take me a lifetime to think up captions, so I'll just leave you to do your own.

Congratulations are undoubtedly due to Mike and the instructors for the pulling the day out of the fire. As for the spot landing competition, who did win? Please tell me it wasn't Steve...
