Red Bull Air Race - London

Some pictures from the Red Bull air race. Most exciting moment? When Mike Goulian got the gate wrapped around his wing and found himself looking at water at 250Mph and no height to speak off. Split second recovery and then powered away into the sky. In the interview he said the only thing to do in that situation is to apply full power, I guess without amount of power it is pretty hard to do anything but climb. Still an understatement though, a startling piece of flying for which he was disqualified for breaking the minimum height above water! Seems harsh has he had already aborted. Anyway, a blustery day brought many a pilot and gate together. The day was won by Kirby Chambliss.

Thanks to Bob, without whom these pictures would not have been taken! Happy Birthday. Rob.
